On May 9, 2024, Thursday afternoon, the loud cheers from FMS and other office employees echoed at the volleyball court located at the road network in front of the Matapat Building as the women’s volleyball team representing FMS in the 2024 SWEAP Sportsfest, known as the “FMS Cool Smashers,” triumphed over the “OUS-Innovators”.
The Cool Smashers consists of volleyball players from the FMS divisions; some are members of last year’s championship squad, while others are newly hired FMS employees. The team with the guidance of Mr. Jassen Dela Cruz, the substitute coach, gave the audience an intense opening match with the Innovators in the first set, defeating them by a score of 25-21. However, they proved why they are the defending champions by dominating in the second set with a score of 25-9 and won their opening match in two sets of a best-of-three set game.
Director Wayne Belizar sent a message of support while attending a team building in Bataan.
“Just continue to play as a team and enjoy it,” he stated.
He also mentioned the team’s coach, Mr. Ernesto Gaudinez, in his statement.
“May the good Lord guide you in your decisions in the game, Coach Ernie,” he said.
The FMS management actively encourages and supports activities that promote physical wellness, camaraderie, and teamwork in addition to participating in the SWEAP activities.
