In a bid to improve project efficiency and accountability, the Financial Management Service monitoring and Evaluation focal participated in a comprehensive Results-Based Management and Evaluation (RBME) workshop this week from 06 – 09 August 2024. The workshop, held at the Lucky Chinatown Hotel, were represented by various M&E focal of the Department.
The four-day event, organized by the Policy Development and Planning Bureau, aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement RBME in their respective projects and programs. RBME is a management strategy focused on performance and achieving results. It emphasizes the use of evidence-based decision-making and the continuous monitoring and evaluation of projects in the case of FMS, key deliverables, to ensure they meet their intended goals.
The workshop featured a blend of theoretical sessions and practical exercises. Participants engaged in group discussions, and hands-on activities designed to simulate real-life experiences in crafting indicators and measuring tools. Topics covered included setting clear objectives, developing performance indicators, data collection and analysis, and reporting results.
In addition to learning new skills, attendees had ample opportunities to network and share experiences with peers from different sectors. These interactions fostered a collaborative environment where participants could exchange ideas and best practices.
Towards the completion of the RBME workshop marks a significant step forward for the FMS that is committed to enhancing the financial management practices. By embracing RBME, FMS is in a better positioned to achieve its goals and deliver meaningful, measurable results that is contributory to the efficient and effective delivery of the Department’s mandate.
